Cosworth-powered sports racer built for “Sweden’s fastest mustache”

Why get just any vintage race car to restore when you could have a Swedish oddball like this Focus Mark V?

Reportedly built by the Sportscars Motors company in Sweden, the Mark V made use of an aluminum body formed over a chassis similar in design to the one used in the Lotus 23.

The original plan was to fit the car with a Maserati engine sourced from the Maserati museum in Modena. However, after the engine was driven nonstop from Modena to Stockholm by the F1 team founder Frank Williams, the engine was discovered to be in less-than-ideal condition.

Instead, a Ford 1600 Cosworth FVA engine was chosen to power the Mark V, backed by a five-speed Hewland gearbox.

Swedish hotshoe Picko Troberg–“Sweden’s fastest mustache”–was planned to race the car, but those plans seemingly fell through.

Per the seller, the car appears to be largely complete, retaining two extra fronts and original wheels as well as the Cosworth FVA engine and Hewland gearbox.
