The world’s best descend upon Circuit de la Sarthe for Le Mans and the Monterey Peninsula for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider is a perfect example of that. To start, it’s only one of eight aluminum-bodied Competizione examples.
Finished just five days before the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans, it was driven by race rookie Bob Grossman and Fernand Tavano. Grossman said the car was so hurried, that “a ‘flash’ of paint covered the primer and the unfinished seats were covered with ‘rags.’” Nevertheless, Grossman and Tavano finished fifth overall. Grossman then secured a victory in the 1959 SCCA National Races and the 1959 International Speed Weeks at Nassau in the Bahamas.
Despite the years of competition, the Ferrari still retains its original engine, chassis, body, gearbox and rear differential. It has made three appearances at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. It won the Platino award at the 2011 Cavallino Classic.

Gorgeous automobile. When designers had some skill, individuality and creatitivity. Unlike the personal mobile pods today (SUV's, EV's) that lack even the style of a fire hydrant. People are so obsessed with "technology" for technology's sake that they have lost sight of the car, as in years ago, as a work of art or at least different that the grey SUV in the mall parking lot or soccer field...
