What paced the field at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, the race where Ford dethroned Ferrari? This Ferrari 330 GT 2+2.

Ferrari must have been pushing this car at the time. In addition to serving as the pace car at Le Mans, they also used it earlier at the 1965 Paris Motor Show.

The car today is in need of restoration, but it may be worth it as it’s a Ferrari 330 GT with incredible history.

Find this Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Le Mans 1966-1965 for auction at Aguttes, with an estimated value of €120,000-€220,000 (approximately $130,000-$240,000 USD).

What would have been the purpose of a "pace car" at Le Mans when they had a, well, Le Mans start?

In reply to shadetree30 :

Any full course cautions. That would necessitate a pace car, aka a control car.
