Never knew Ferrari campaigned the 550? Well, that’s because it never did–but that didn’t stop privateers from using it in competition.
This example was prepared for racing by ENRO Competition of Italy in 2016. Wider fiberglass bodywork was fitted, as were centerlock wheels, air jacks, fire suppression system, roll cage, carbon fiber dash, trunk-mounted fuel cell and Brembo F40 LM brakes up front. (The original front brakes were moved to the rear.)
Power comes from a 478 horsepower, 5.5-liter V12 backed by a six-speed gated manual transmission.
Showing 27,032 kilometers–approximately 16,796 miles–the 550 GTS is billed as being in “out-of-the-box competition condition” after a recent reconditioning by Arizona-based Italian Design & Racing.
In addition to participating in the 2022 and 2023 Minardi Days Historics at Imola, the Ferrari was displayed at the 2024 Velocity Invitational in Sonoma, California.
The 550 GTS is accompanied by a spare set of wheels, FIA paperwork dating back to 2018 and a miscellaneous assortment of spare and removed parts.
Also included in the sale? An original artwork of the 550 GTS that was painted onsite at the Velocity Invitational by motorsport artist Samantha Zimmermann.
