Love the feeling of British open-top motoring but want something that’s not British? Try this Datsun 1600 Fairlady.

Said to be “charmingly restored” and the subject of recent mechanical servicing, the Datsun is powered by a 1600cc inline-four fitted with twin SU carbs parked beside a fluted aluminum valve cover.

The Fairlady also comes finished in cream over a red interior and is equipped with an interior cabin heater.

Find this 1967 Datsun 1600 Fairlady available from RM Sotheby’s with an expected selling price of $30,000-$35,000.

That was my 1600 - it was really a '66 - check the chrome rim gauges and I installed that $20 radio.  The title and nameplate were punched 1967 as the dealers stamped the numbers and sometimes when they were sold.   I can fill in history if anyone cared.

When I sold it my wife said I'd regret selling it.....

Guy I sold it to stripped the 3 layers of paint off to restore it to factory - he was a auto body guy.   He had it for years and bought a Mustang convertible instead.   It was suggested I purchase it at this point.

I have been spending way to much time on my car and I can see the differences on this an early car and my 1970.   They did a great job on this restoration.

My car will never be worth what this car will trade hands for.  But it is nice to know this one will effect all of us. I hope!

My first Datsun Roadster was a 1963 1500 Fairlady. Twin carbs (which not all of them had); a 4-speed with non-synchro first gear and a side-facing rear third seat. I bought it for $500 in 1972.
