This Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III’s model year, 1966, is the same time when the Beatles put out hits such as “Yellow Submarine,” “Eleanor Rigby” and “Strawberry Fields Forever.” One of the men behind those legendary songs, John Lennon, owned this unique example of a Silver Cloud.
What makes this Silver Cloud unique? It’s a drophead coupe. Rolls-Royce didn’t offer that. Instead, one would need to enlist a coachbuilder to create that. In this case, that coachbuilder was Mulliner Park Ward, who based the bodywork on a design by Vilhelm Koren.
Koren is best known for his Mulliner Park Ward design of the Bentley S2 Continental and iconic S3 Continental. Incidentally, after those iconic designs, Koren went on to teach furniture design at the Royal College of Art.
Find this 1966 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Drophead Coupé for auction at Bonhams, with an estimated value of CHF80,000-CHF120,000 (approximately $100,000-$150,000 USD).
