What does a king use to survey the battlefield? For the case of King George V, he rode in this Rolls-Royce 40/50 Silver Ghost to inspect the Western Front during World War I.

The British Military Authorities commandeered this Rolls-Royce from its first owner, Mortimer L. Schiff. Schiff, a banker from New York, is best known for being one of the early advocates of the Scout movement, serving as the vice president, and later president, of the Boy Scouts of America.

This Rolls-Royce comes out of more than 35 years with one enthusiast owner. It still retains its original coachwork from Hooper & Company.

Find this 1914 Rolls-Royce 40/50 HP Silver Ghost ‘Colonial’ Limousine by Hooper for auction at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimated value of £200,000-£300,000 (approximately $270,000-$405,000 USD).
