This 1953 Maserati A6GCS/53 Spyder comes with a rich racing heritage. How rich? Well, those who sat behind the wheel include the five-time Formula 1 champion Juan Manuel Fangio.
Importer Tony Pompeo wanted to show journalists and potential customers what this car could do. So, he tapped Fangio to drive this A6GCS/53 as part of a demonstration in 1953.
Afterwards, the car experienced a successful tenure in SCCA competition, where it podiumed. The Maserati also competed in the 1954 Sebring 12 Hour with drivers Don McKnought and William Eager.
Maserati built 52 examples of the A6GCS/53, with this one currently fitted with the correct-type engine and gearbox.
