Does vintage racing always have to cost an arm and a leg? This Lotus-based sports racer says otherwise.
Said to have been built sometime in the 1960s for SCCA’s C Sports class, the Lotus is based on an Elan chassis and powered by a mid-mounted 1275cc Cooper S engine.
Featuring a body made of fiberglass and aluminum, the sports racer also comes with SCCA logbooks that date back to 1972.

Cool car, but it's a pet peeve of mine when a car with the engine placed in front of the passenger compartment is called a "mid-engine" car just because the engine is pushed far back. It's like the "front-mid-engine" or "amidships" marketing term. If the furthest forward part of the engine are the bolts that hold on the water pump pulley, and these bolt heads stick out 1mm in front of the front axle centerline, can I really claim that I can convert my car from a front engine car to a mid engine car by shaving 2mm off the heads of the water pulley bolts? .
