Not an Eldorado, but a rare “El Morocco” convertible

If you think that this Chevy looks a lot like a Caddy, and the name “El Morocco” reads a lot like “Eldorado,” you’ve pretty much pieced together this unique car’s origin story.

As the story goes, a Canadian businessman named Reuben Allender saw the price gap between the Cadillac Eldorado and the Chevrolet Bel Air and figured he could fill that gap himself.

The result? The El Morocco.

This El Morocco Convertible is one of only 10 known to exist and is powered by a 283 cubic-inch V8 backed by a 2-speed Powerglide transmission.

The car is also noted to have undergone a concours-level restoration by Tel Powney of D'Elegance, completing less than 80 miles since the work was finished.
