Although lasting only one model year, few cars capture the imagination as well as the Tucker. Even though sedans were the only models officially built, the company looked to construct a convertible, too. This car, No. 57, represents that prototype.

Tucker and third-party engineers from Lenki Engineering cut the top off sedan No. 57. Once they did that, they noticed the frame sagged. The engineers then added ovular steel beams inside a thickened, boxed Tucker frame.

After solving the structural issues, Tucker and Lenki employees lengthened the doors and installed a shortened windshield frame. They then added a modified GM convertible top frame. Unfortunately, that’s as far as the got with it. The project stopped when the Tucker Corporation went out of business.

The car then went through several hands before Benchmark Classics finished the car as a convertible in 2010.
