The current long-term owner (a “career engineer, entrepreneur, and inventor of laser optical systems and processes,” per the seller) purchased the M1 in 1983, driving the BMW for many years before storing it.

In 2023, the M1 was recommissioned by marque experts with fresh fluids as well as several new components that include a battery, fuel pump, spark plugs, gaskets and a set of Continental Extreme Sport tires.
