The chance to drive a car also driven by a Formula 1 champion that isn’t a race car? This Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Silver Ghost was previously owned by Phill Hill for some two decades.
Originally bodied as a Four-Light Tilbury Sedan, the Rolls-Royce would later be refitted with a Six-Light McNear Sedan body and then its current Piccadilly Roadster body.
If you think those names sound obnoxiously British, that was sort of the point–this 40/50hp was manufactured in Rolls-Royce’s factory in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The seller explains that to attract American buyers, the car's coachwork options were given British names (hence the “Piccadilly” name attached to the current body).
Today, the Rolls-Royce features known history from new and retains its numbers-matching chassis, engine and gearbox.
Find this 1924 Rolls-Royce Springfield 40/50hp Silver Ghost Piccadilly Roadster for auction from H&H Classics with an estimated value of £200,000-£250,000, or approximately $255,300-$319,000 USD.
