The Allard Palm Beach Mk II prototype restored by the Allard family

How many examples of the Allard Palm Beach Mk II were built? Just six. How many were the prototype and restored by company founder Sydney Allard’s son and grandson? Just this one.

When Allard debuted the Palm Beach in 1952, it missed the mark, with a design less curvaceous–and less appealing for Americans–than those from its contemporaries. So, in 1956, they redesigned it. Critics loved it. Buyers didn’t. Only six examples were built and this was the prototype that Allard used as its demonstrator.

In 2012, Alan and Lloyd Allard started the Allard Sports Car Company to revive the marque. They explored the possibility of a continuation model of the Palm Beach and purchased this car. The two had a full restoration performed on the Mk II, which by this time was in a sad state. The finished example displayed at the NEC Classic Car Show and made the pages of Octane Magazine.
