If it’s fit for Hollywood, it’s fit for Pebble Beach, right? Well, this Duesenberg Model J proves that right, with a Pebble Beach win and plenty of movie and TV appearances.
While you might not find this car on IMDb, you will find it in several movies and TV shows that appear there. Why? It was one of the prop cars for Pacific Auto Rental, which served Hollywood productions. The Duesenberg’s best-known appearance? The 1962 film “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.
As much as the Duesenberg captivated Hollywood, it has charmed concours judges. It won its class at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 2005 and then took third in 2024, 20-some years after its restoration.
Find this 1931 Duesenberg Model J “Disappearing Top” Convertible Coupe by Murphy for auction at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimated value of $4,000,000-$4,500,000.
