Sure, Lancia constructed just 240 examples of its Aurelia B24 Spider. However, just one was owned by a prince and a man nicknamed “Tarzan.” This is it.
Let’s start with the prince. Prince Tommaso Corsini, a member of the Corsini family originating out of Florence. It’s a family that’s known for its influence, so much so that a Corsini, Lorenzo Corsini, was elected as a pope, Clement XII, in 1730. Prince Tommaso Corsini didn’t rise through the Vatican ranks, but he participated in drafting the new constitution for Italy after WWII.
In 1969, “Tarzan,” aka Florio Sarti, acquired the car. We don’t know why his friends called him this, but this might give an indication, per the seller’s words: “Florio Sarti was not known for his refined taste and he had the Aurelia repainted in red with white leather upholstery.” The good news is that after he owned it for more than 30 years, the car was restored and returned to its original colors, and it retains its original engine.
Find this 1955 Lancia Aurelia B24 roadster America for auction at Artcurial, with an estimated value of €600,000-€800,000 (approximately $700,000-$925,000 USD).
