Four-cylinder Testa Rossas are rare. Ferrari only built 17 examples of its 500 TR. This was the final constructed and sold.
This particular example was raced in-period by drivers such as François Picard, Peter Collins and Howard Hively. It competed at the 12 Hours of Reims–where it won its class–the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Cuban Grand Prix.
Despite its racing history, the 500 TR retains its matching-numbers engine and original Scaglietti coachwork. The same family has owned this example for 55 years. It was last exhibited in 1994 at the FCA International Concours in Monterey.
Find this 1956 Ferrari 500 TR for auction at Gooding & Company, with an estimated value of $4,000,000-$5,000,000.
