This Maserati A6GCS isn’t just one of four rare examples, it’s also one of the last Maseratis to feature a Pininfarina body for some 50 years.
At the time this Maserati was built, Ferrari had exclusive rights to Pininfarina, meaning no other carmaker could use the company to design bodies.
Guglielmo “Mimmo” Dei, owner of a Maserati dealer in Rome, found a loophole: He bought six A6GCS chassis, and then personally commissioned Pininfarina to fit them with the chassis with berlinetta bodies.
In total, just four were completed, and this A6GCS is one of them, and would later be displayed at the 1954 Turin Motor Show.
