Carrozzeria Ellena built just 50 coupes based on the Ferrari 250 GT chassis. This one was thought to be lost–until it was found just last year.
In 1964, Gerald S. Krupa bought this coupe. He used it for about a year until he encountered engine trouble. Krupa removed and dissembled the V12, but then the car sat under a cover in his home garage for decades until after he passed away.
The Ferrari carries 40,381 miles on the odometer and comes with several items from 1964 and 1965 that include Illinois license plates, a city tax sticker and a doorjamb service tag. The engine has since been reassembled and reinstalled, but the seller says it will need a rebuild and mechanical recommissioning. The paint isn’t original, but much of the car is, sitting as it sat back when it was last used in 1964.
Find this 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Coupe for auction at Gooding & Company, with an estimated value of $650,000-$800,000.
