The seller calls this 1939 Delage D6 the “moral winner” of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Here’s why.

With Louis Gérard and Georges Monneret behind the wheel, this D6 led the race for nearly 20 hours. However, a valve spring issue in the pits delayed their efforts, paving the way for the Bugatti Type 57 Tank of Jean-Pierre Wimille and Pierre Veyron to take the win. Gérard and Monneret finished second. The Bugatti, which was overheating, had its lower fairing removed in the latter part of the race. This was illegal per the regulations.
