This Studebaker Avanti R2 graced the cover of the May issue of “Variety.” It shared the stage with two Hollywood actors: Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson.
When new, the Avanti was billed as “the fastest production car in the world,” with a modified version breaking 29 records at the Bonneville Salt Flats. This example carries the original engine, including the Paxton supercharger, which in 1964 only 281 examples came with. In fact, just about everything with this car is original, except the paint and carpet.
In addition to the Variety photo shoot, the Avanti displayed at the 2025 edition of the ModaMiami. Prior to that, it scored 381 of a possible 400 points in a Studebaker Drivers Club competition, earning a first place.
Find this 1964 Studebaker Avanti R2 for auction at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimated value of $50,000-$75,000.
