Roughly just 35 examples of the Ferrari 400 Superamerica were built. Some were bought new by big names, such as head of Fiat Gianni Agnelli, Vice President Nelson Rockefeller and president of the AC Milan soccer club Felice Riva. This covered-headlight Ferrari’s claim to fame is that it was displayed at the 1963 New York International Show.
In 2003, Ferrari collector Peter McCoy acquired the 400 Superamerica and commissioned a no-expense-spared restoration by Motion Products Inc. Following its completion, it won numerous honors, including Platinum and special awards at the Cavallino Classic, the Enzo Ferrari Award at Pebble Beach, the Pininfarina Trophy at Villa d’Este, and First in Class at Amelia Island.
The current owner of this Ferrari acquired it from McCoy in 2021. It’s had some mechanical work since then, including new cylinder heads, a driveshaft and sorting of various mechanical systems.
