We hate to sound like a broken record, but firsts and lasts often command the top dollar for a particular car. So, here’s a Ferrari 250 Europa GT that was the last to be built, but that’s just the surface of the story behind this example.
The last cars produced of a model also often feature the best technology for that generation. For example, the last 250 Europa GT uses coil springs instead of leaf springs. This Ferrari showcased those upgrades at the 1956 Brussels Motor Show.
The 250 Europa GT may have started as a show car, but it quickly became a race car. In 1957, it competed at the famed Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Many years (and owners) later, it underwent a factory-correct restoration in the 2000s. After that it displayed at events such as The Quail and the Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach. It retains its numbers-matching chassis, engine, body, suspension, brakes, among other components, and is eligible for the Mille Miglia and many concours worldwide.
Find this 1956 Ferrari 250 Europa GT up for auction at Bonhams | Cars, with an estimated value of $1,800,000-$2,300,000.
