Had a little interest when I mentioned this in the Minivan Challenge thread, but no takers just yet. I'm motivated to get it out of here now.

1998 Mazda MPV Allsport 4WD
186,172 miles
Grm price $400?

Cloth interior
4WD with center locking differential work great
Michelin LTX MS tires with a lot of good tread left
Alternator 3~ years old (new not remanufactured)
NEW OEM NON-ALL(auto load leveling) rear springs and NEW KYB rear shocks 3~ years old
Trailer Hitch (only ever towed a small utility trailer or used for a bike rack)
Hot heat and Ice Cold A/C, also has rear A/C unit.
New Distributor (not reman) included but not installed.

Needs Battery (started right up with a jump start)
Needs brake work (rotors, pads, shoes, possibly calipers. sat for too long, corroded, and parking brake barely works)
Transmission occasionally wont shift into 4th gear (CEL code P1770). Otherwise drives and shifts fine. If you hit the O/D off switch it locks out 4th gear and the torque converter anyways so I dont think this is doing any harm necessarily.
Tailpipe/rear silencer rusted off
Rust bubbling around rear fenders/rockers
Load Leveling system disabled/removed (system had leaks, replaced with new springs and shocks listed above)
Misc oil leaks (valvecover gaskets, oil pan) "blanking plate" oil seal HAS been replaced 3~ years ago (very common leak point for this engine)

Here is a Flickr Album with a bunch of photos.

I have all the rear seats they are just not installed right now. I'd happily keep the one bolted to my race sim setup if you dont need it though.

Will need to be towed due to needed brake work.

So no chance of a fly and drive because of the brakes?

Edit: helps if I read the last line.

Yes they are quite sketchy even just moving it around the driveway

Forgot to add I am the 2nd owner. Bought from original owners around 174k miles several years ago. I have all their service records since new for whatever thats worth.

Let me borrow your tools for a quick brake overhaul?

I think it's rated to tow something like 5000 lbs too.

It's got some ground clearance. Drives thru deep snow like its nothing. PO claimed it was better than his sons Cherokee in the snow.

OK, not to be a complete jackass, but is the price firm?

There is a question mark after it so I'd say that you're safe from being a complete jackass.

I don't know, after all he's only asking $400. But, I am a cheapskate and it is a long drive. I do have a trailer and my diesel should be fixed (soon I hope).

Price is negotiable because I need it gone. Trying to move next year need to start getting rid of extra stuff.

Quick check on rockauto, if calipers are needed, it looks like $5-600 in parts in total (calipers are ~50-60 each).

when i moved the van around a couple months ago, it felt/sounded like only the left rear brakes were sticking. everything else seemed to be functioning fine. except for the very corroded rotors which are the main cause of concern of why the brakes are currently unsafe IMO. if you've got the tools they may just need to be turned to clean up the surface, not sure of their age but could probably find the stack of reciepts from the PO and look for when the brakes were last done if you are interested.

you may have figured it out by now but the rear brakes are discs, with an internal drum brake for the parking brake

So the parking brake shoes may need adjustment?

Meh. Just drive it around for a bit and knock the rust off the rotors. Then drive home.

In reply to failboat:

If you're willing to find out, that'd be great. Rotors aren't too bad but 200 for calipers would suck. Thanks

Will be next week sometime before I can try to check. Will run a few laps around the neighborhood to see if I can free things up.
