1999 Miata 2016 Challenge Deal

1999 Miata with around 119000 miles. Silver with black cloth interior Have title but the car has not been tagged since 2014.

This was my CSP car before I had to drop out of motorsports for a while and it's been sitting in my garage. I'm at the point where I don't have the time to give it the attention it needs.

Has a few minor dents and scratches but no rust and when cleaned up still looks good at 5 feet.

Comes with an intact soft top (not on the car right now) and a hardtop that I was in the process of stripping for paint. It will need work.

A/C was removed and is long gone.

Radio was removed but I have all of the components.

Sits on the original 14x6 wheels with fully treaded all seasons. Comes with 4 Rota 13x8 wheels with mounted tires. Last autocrossed in 2006 (won the Atlanta Region CSP championship) so the tires are rock hard and unusable.

Have parts that are ready to install:

New stock radiator.

Complete timing belt change kit from Flyin Miata.

Everything for a complete change of all fluids (Mobile 1).

Full factory service manual.

Car sits on KYB AGX shocks with first gen Flyin Miata lowering springs and a front Flyin Miata solid sway bar. Has a Racing Beat intake and a OBX header. Newish battery and I have run the car at least every two weeks to charge the battery and keep gas moving through the system.

I will not ship the car but will deliver the whole package as far as 100 miles from Atlanta.

Price $2015 FIRM. The whole package is worth way more than that so I will not budge. I'm selling below market value because I just don't have the time or energy to do what needs to be done with the car to get it back competing. I think it would be a great start for the 2016 chalenge.

It's posts like this that make me want to set up an instant notification system for this forum. Hate that I missed this as I search for a Miata project for my soon-to-be-driving boy.

I wish I had seen this ad this morning. I'd be on the road to Atlanta tomorrow morning. I have a couple of friends who do track days with their Miatas and this would have been a perfect starting point for me to join them. If everyone in front of me bails let me know.

The car is very dirty and full of cobwebs from sitting in the garage but you get the idea. There are some scratches and small dings. The front bumper cover is loose at the passenger headlight. I have not pulled it apart to see if it is just a broken tab. Also, the clutch is a stock replacement with about a year of autocrossing and another year of just driving so it should be at least 90% good.

I've gotten emails from Dyintorace, Brian, Steve, and Greg Voth plus the replies on the forum. First in/first serve and I will keep everyone updated.

Questions came up about why so cheap. Really, the hard top needs a lot of work so it's worth as a street piece is low. The rest of the car is in great shape and I would not hesitate to drive it pretty much anywhere. It was in the process of becoming a time trial/hill climb car and then life intervened. I'm approaching 50 and just want something that I can show up with autocross on street tires. None of the hassle of something that requires work just to get back in the game. AKA, there might be something new in my future.

Wow, that trailer looks brand new. Youve got about $5,000 or more worth of stuff here.

The trailer is actually an old equipment trailer. I used it for a while and then last year I spent a lot of time with a wire brush and paint. The decking is faded but good. The new wheels and tires are the nicest things on it and that will be a loss but I hate haggling so a low but firm price is in my best interest and hopefully a good deal for one of you guys.

FYI, the trailer does not have brakes. It pulls fine behind my 1/2 ton with the Miata loaded up.

That was a smokin' deal. Around here people want $2,000 for just the trailer.

Less than 4 hours, that has got to be some kind of record, and an indication of the quality of the deal!

I'd have paid almost that much for the trailer. Screamin' deal. Congrats to the new owner.

That certainly sounds like fun, but my fabrication skills are a complete zero. Not sure I could do the requisite work to get the LS1/transmission in.

All you need is a sawzall, self tapping screws, and some jbweld. With that anything can be done. Unfortunately there's no trading in the rules anymore. I'm no budget expert but in this case I'd bill of sale the trailer and any parts not going to be used separately at FMV. You could easily get the Miata under $500.
