I am selling my 87 Honda VFR700. It runs great, has 32,400 miles on it. The carbs were rebuilt along with a tuneup by the previous owner about 1500 miles ago. It does have a rebuilt title but I have not noticed anything wrong with the way it rides. $1300 obo for GRMers.

Too bad you're so far away. Awesome bike.
Those are possibly the most over engineered bike of the late 80's and early 90's.
Honda was smarting from their V4 debacle of the past 10 years. V4's were rubbing the lobes off their cams due to not enough oil circulation. The bikes would run great but get progressively weaker as the cam lobes ground down.
So they built this VFR.
Gear driven cams and tweaks everywhere else were the answer evidently.
GREAT bikes. They will run forever with some maintenance. They can be a bear to work on as the v4 config is great for balance and packaging but hard on non-japanese hands to get to.
INCREDIBLE SOUNDS from this motor. They positively howl.
Also, by today's standards, a very relaxed riding position.
It is rumored that Honda lost money on every VFR produced. They were so popular that dealerships would never offer a discount on them.
A modern classic.
Nothing, and I mean nothing sounds like these bikes.
Unholy.
A good set of pipes on one of those and it sounds better than any engine on the road. Pure sex. I followed one through the Gap on my Kat one time and while he wasn't getting away from me any time soon I was more than happy to be behind him.
You uuuhhh, wouldn't be looking for an e30 project and some cash, would you?
Beer too, hmmm?

Hmmmm e30 project...would that be the 4 door eta or am I thinking of someone else? It is tempting, send me some details.
As I recall, those were 700cc's because the US still had a tariff on bikes over 750cc to protect Harley, which was just starting to turn things around.
Those were beautiful in their original color scheme, pearl white with silver / gold striping. Much more subtle than a lot of the other sport bikes available at the time.

hmm....
if the aforementioned e30 deal doesn't work out, i have been looking at selling my miata and picking up something like this. any interest in a bike+$$$ for miata deal?
Rusty Falcon + Sputtering Maxima?
for "profit" substitute "VFR"

Hmm pictures of Falcon? Also, I have no cash to put toward a Miata...unless you want the bike plus $500.

Although I think I'd be spending the remaining $300 just bringing the bike back to WV!
