Concours is a tough time. Sitting, waiting, hangry, overworked judges, etc.
this year, to bring some spirit and fun back to the event, Team Alavanche is presenting a taco bar at the concours because tacos berkeleying rule.
if you wish to help, it would be appreciated. We're planning to source most stuff locally on our way down, like bags of lettuce and cheese and salsas and sauces. We'll probably make a publix run Thursday for meat and put it in our and several other's room refrigerators.
we have a grill and hobiercr has a grill, and i was planning to do marinated chicken because it's usually cool with everyone where some people don't do beef or pork for personal/religious/dietary reasons.
tacos are until they run out. We ask nothing for the tacos but will have a donation jar if you wish that will get donated to the R.A.K.E (random acts of kindness everywhere) #socktober drive.
we will probably need some help setting up, cooking, cleaning up, and ice/coolers to keep the food safe transporting to the track and the afforementioned volunteers to use some fridge space in your hotel room.

Can definitely spare refrigerator/cooler space, can absolutely spring for some supplies and food.
But I'm pretty sure you don't want me cooking... Maybe chopping onions or limes, or, I'm actually pretty decent at opening bags of shredded cheese.
I’m in for fridge space at least
I'll have plenty of cooler space after I burn through my brats Thursday night. Does anybody have a single gas burner if we want to heat a pot of black or refried beans?
Also, I'm a soft tortilla kinda guy if that is an option, Pat. We can easily heat them on the grill, too if needed.
Oh, and bring your favorite hot sauce. Tijuana Flats stopped carrying "Swamp Scum" which was my go-to.
Anybody got a Costco membership and want to do a supply run there?

Is there a costco near the hotel? I could probably get my dads card. I looked up gordon food service but theyre not in that area. They have 5# bags of shredded lettuce already. I'll cut vegetables but i'm not dicing 10 heads of lettuce. Ideally we find thin sliced chicken breasts so we have zero prep to bag them in marinade and they will cook quick and slice easily.
I was planning to do all soft shells for easy factor, and i want to do grilled bell peppers and onions.
I figure we need foil trays, plates, disposable serving stuff, etc. the more we can can at the track the better, I don't want to be washing dishes in the hotel bathtub.
I have a turkey fryer burner that we could probably use for a pot, but a foil pan on a steel cookie sheet should work for zero cleanup. I plan to bring 2 gas tanks
unfortunately our tomato crop sucked this year and we have no homemade salsa to show for it.
I have a big glass jar of someone's salsa from the parking lot last year in my garage fridge. It got left with the brats table and I put it in the cooler. IIRC it was really spicy. Does salsa last that long? Is it potentially toxic? Will Stampie or Karl potentially still eat it? Could it power the parking lot build at this point?
Just checked, no Costco in G-ville. Publix should have everything we need.

I have a single gas burner available, and I can do a costco run ahead if I need to. I also happen to be within about 30min of a GFS- on top of actuallly having been employed there. I'm sort of used to doing weird E36 M3 at this point.

Get me a list and I'll put together a run. They can do all the meat too if you need to- though costco might have better meat. I have a business costco in the area too- One of the ones where I don't have to fistfight little old ladies for samples, and I can get a 40lb case of halal breast.

So I texted SWMBO about running a taco bar during the thing. Her reply was we probably needed to look at getting a good cooler and a portable gas grill so we can cook. I suppose that means she's in. IDK about buying a grill- but we're definitely in. I should probably book a hotel room.
Also- I need to call my mead guy. He makes a mean brew.
We have 2 grills, should be good there

How many people are we thinking about needing to feed with this? 100? 600? 4 really big football guys?
i live in orlando so not a far drive. i can bring supplies if you need them. was already planning on bringing my generator and i have a mini fridge that is easy to bring. You have already gone this far, might as well make it a sit down restaurant now!
Just let me know how i can help or if you need anything. will also spare hotel fridge space.

There’s 50 teams registered, and most probably have 2 or more people. Plus you’ll need to bribe the judges.
In reply to Pete Gossett :
Judges are key, better bring queso. you'll be number 1 on the charts and number 1 in their hearts.
In reply to surfshibby07 :
I make some badass queso
I could eat a whole case o' queso.
I'll try to bring supplies if I can. Sauces and things to share, at the very least.
I can pack a 2-burner Coleman camping stove and a couple of small propane bottles.
I'll help any way I can, any way you need
At this point I'll pack a folding table and some camp chairs.
I recommend others do the same. Bring 'em if ya got 'em.

I have a 2x4 folding table as well as my 3x5 rolling track table in the trailer, sounds like we need more.
