FMV: Engine that doesn’t run

Already looking towards 2025 with the Wright Turn Racing Poorsche 944. What would the FMV be for an engine I replaced due to misfires and low compression? It doesn't run and needs a rebuild. 

I'd probably go with whatever the core charge would be from your local boneyard.

(Unrelated funny fact...  My phone thinks I'm way classier than I am because it wants to autocorrect "boneyard" to "vineyard")

Is this the engine that was in the car when you bought it? Yes or no.

If No, what did you pay for this bad engine? That's the number that goes in your budget.

if Yes, did you subtract anything from your budget when you removed it? If this engine came with the car *and* you didn't subtract anything when you took it out, then it is already in the budget as part of the baseline price of the car.

If neither of those are accurate, I'd support "core charge for long block from local u-pull"

I was assuming that this was an engine that you pulled out of something unrelated to the Poorsche and now is taking up space instead of having been returned somewhere as a core.  If that's not a correct assumption, then what he said.

This came out of a different car and was replaced with one that runs. It's been in my basement since and I think it would be a good power plant. I'll look up core charge and use that. TY.
