Yes, it's mine. I had high hopes for this car, but a job change has now left me with much less regular time off, and therefore little time to take on a project of this magnitude. My hope was to drive this car to a top-20 GRM Challenge finish someday. I want one of you to do the same. With enough ingenuity and resourcefulness, this car could easily place in the top 10.
First off, here are the pics I have of the car: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/reader-rides/1013/
NOTE that it no longer has a transmission, axles, or rear trailing arms (and therefore the rear of the car no longer rolls). These went back to modernbeat as a part of our original deal. I was going to back-half the chassis and install a tube frame to accept an MR2 drivetrain.
It's probably quicker to list what this car has left on it rather than what it's missing.
Has: - Chassis (mostly solid, front has parts that are crusty) - Body (decent shape with normal spider cracks) - Front and rear lights (yes, I have both front lights) - Some wiring, at least for the lights - Steering system incl. wheel, column, and rack - Front suspension system - Gas tank - side and rear glass - wheels and nearly new Sumitomo tires (all-season) - maybe a few other things
Basically, if you don't see it in the pics assume that I don't have it.
Some history:
1969 Europa Type 54 Federal. Actually a fairly rare model, as it has the original Europa "low nose" before they raised the headlights up for DOT compliance. Originally sold in California, it was eventually modified to be a slalom car. It had the front hubs machined out to accept the larger bearings (now inner and outer are the same size). Has a set of 4 SPAX shocks. Not sure of the condition, but they seem to be fine (if a bit rusty). Front turn signal "warts" were cut off and glassed over (poorly IMO). Clear open California title, ready for you to sign the back. A bunch of neat-o paperwork including the original window sticker (great for the Challenge concours). All-in-all, a great FREE car for an ambitious challenger. Bring a trailer and a furniture dolly for the rear of the car (or we can use mine to get it on the trailer, but I want it back!).
Location: Houston, TX area.
