I had a big stack of GRMs that I hadn't gotten around to reading, and I finally decided that the pile was getting dangerously high. I needed to do something about it. I knew that they'd never been read because the bindings weren't creased and they still had those annoying subscription cards falling out of them.

I quickly flipped through a couple of them, and inside one, I found an unopened envelope containing an uncashed check that I didn't even know that I was missing.

Long story.

My best guess is that the mailman tucked that envelope into the magazine before putting it into the mailbox and I never knew it was in there.

It was old enough (more than a year) that I had to make a call and have another check issued. Not surprisingly, they knew the date on the check as soon as I gave them my info.

So the moral of the story is: Always read your Grassroots Motorsports Magazine from cover to cover as soon as it arrives.

And if anyone wants to meet me at the bar within, say... the next  1200 minutes, first drink is on me. wink

I second this moral. wink

Now I'll have to flip through the books and the magazines at the thrift store in addition to searching through the jacket pockets.
