wtb 2jz, 7mgte, 1uz, rb, etc for challenge z

Haven't seen many engines posted lately in classifieds, and we are searching for a drivetrain for the challenge z. Work commences on the car tonight, and in a few weeks the car will hopefully be ready to have an engine installed in it, or at least getting close to that point lol
looking for something we'd be able to find documentation on ideally, and something that can make some good reliable power. =]
have found a sbc 350 bare block here for $100 which I really like, just wondering if the nickel and diming for swapping that in will kill our budget? I know building the engine won't take up the entire budget but maybe swap specific parts, a manual trans that will work, etc etc..

It's a Z. Go find an engine. Any engine. It'll fit.

I agree, just see what you can find. Rotary? Sure, 427? Sure, Merlin? Sure. I'd vote for this, but it's a bit out of budget.

what i mean mainly by the thread is I don't see many engines popping up here for sale anymore, wondering what happened to them? thats why its a wtb thread; we thought of making a 130z with a 13b lol. or a 570z with a sbc, a 500z or 302z with an sbf, etc etc. just depends on what pops up really. no set plan yet, just seeing if anyone posts something they have for sale up lol

I have a K8, but i'm not entirely sure that's what you had in mind.

I might have something else here in a week or two...

What are you looking for spacific? I know wheres there a 350 for 400 bucks running,a 350 with auto tranny for 700.Most pick and pulls will sell a running motor for 250 and the world 5spds for 100-150.

I think we will be going with an rb20 from an importer, but I'm going to be keeping my eyes out for anything else while I save up.
I'd prefer to go with a jappy engine but something insane like a 454, a bmw powerplant, or a merlin would obviously get special consideration lol

I have a BMW power plant butted up to a 5 speed tranny for cheap.The car was in a wreck so its cheap.

Put a VG30 and a turbo, and you'll definitely make some power for under 2k.

It'll be a few weeks but that just may get the tax money. I have to head back out that way anyways to get the title straightened out so that'd be cool. plus I really like 5.0's

this is dustin. (the guy you got it from) motor and trans are 92-93 with new timing chain and oil pan gaskit. with all sorts of parts. have to think about the crossmember. but I have a buuuuunch of 5.0 accessories and other stuff.

If you still have it when my tax money comes in I'll almost certainly come get it. I'll prob just be going with a 302 swap cradle & t5 mounting kit made for the s30 in order to save us all from my fab skills lol

the only way i see you doing something completely unique, and you may be able to do it under budget(probably not safely though) jet turbine into z...

i can honestly say that's about the only thing i've never seen in a zed...

seriously though have you considered any of the VG or VQ motors on snail power?

I'd love to do a vq35, mainly because of the fact that I've torn several down and am very familiar with them. I don't see getting one + trans in budget though. Even an n/a vq35 would be pretty damn quick in such a light car
