I think I'd swap in a set of winged buckets (period correct), a set of kidney-slot mags, and tint the windows blue or orange or something. Convert to a 3 or 4 speed manual for bonus points.

Boy, I hated these when they were new, but I really like this one.

My mom had an '82 when I was a kid. It had the 304 (I think, I know it was a V8.) and it was turd brown. It was a step up from the Chevette we had before it.

When I was a kid a neighbor of ours had one, I always thought they looked like a terrarium.
though they have odd proportions, that one looks pretty damn good to me.
