Good thing that is in Va. My mom used to have one of those. Me and a friend drove it back from the property she used to have back down to the coast, about a four hour drive. The radio didn't work, but luckily, I had my boom box in there with us.
My friend had never been in a car with a parking brake handle before, and asked what it was for. Seeing as we were having all sorts of trouble doing even 55mph, I told him it was to lower the blades for cutting.
Another time I took it out to the beach on it's Sears Guardmen highway tires. Hell of a time keeping it from getting stuck in the soft sugar sand. At least it was light weight.
I'm very tempted...
Wait.... I thought I just read Brats are supposed to be white.
I didnt know Subaru made brats. I wonder how they taste with a nice Bavarian sauerkraut and some brown mustard.

1. I freaking really want that. 2. Find out what year it is really, between the headlights and the wheel color, I'd say it's '83-85.
I saw the headlights and wondered that as well. I had an '82 Subaru and that year ran single 6054's on each side.
Can we get a bit more info? 5 spd? Dual range 4WD?
I really, really shouldn't be, but if it runs and drives I'm interested. Just what I need... another car that uses 175/70-13 tires...

Even worse, the Brat uses 185s. Judging by the shot thru the window, it's 4 speed and dual range.

The lights actually depend on the option package. Brat DL = single lights, GL = duals.
Those of you who have been on the board a while may remember my EJ22-swapped Brat (see my 'garage' for pics)...hoo boy, spinning those little 13" tires all the way up to 40MPH was a hoot!
EA81 cars like the Brat were all 4-speed, the 5-speed 4WD trans was not introduced until the EA82.
So with the 4wd would it be possible to rallyx it in 4wd, or is it a true 4wd that shouldn't be driven over xx mph like most trucks?

If its a 4spd, then its the same system that was in my wagon. I drove it at hwy speeds in 4-hi numerous times in crappy conditions. It'd bind like hell in dry conditions, but as long as it can slip it should be fine. In the rain, nothing could beat me off the line - for the first 60 ft.
I loved that little car... If it had a 5spd and a/c (and the door bottoms didn't flap in the wind), I'd still have it. It would have close to a million miles on it by now... Literally. I got the car when I was in high school and that was 25 years ago...

My '82 was a GL but I know the lights changed during the production run.
I remember there being a 5spd version with the dual range transfer case, but IIRC it was only in '84 on GL10 models. Wasn't sure if it ever made it into the Brat.
So much want, even with the (IMHO) inferior-to-quad-round headlight look ;-)
^I could get behind that remark.
