I almost can't believe the owner that it's a manual transmission. For one, don't Vanden Plas have those had the rectangular headlights, not the dual rounds? Two, he doesn't know how to drive a manual but thinks it needs a driveshaft?
I can't imagine it would be listed as a manual and specifically noted as one if it wasn't, but another friend noted that it is almost definitely not a Vanden Plas and likely received a different badge at some point.
They DID sell manual XJ40s in the US, but only in double-digit numbers. They are worth more in parts than they are as running, driving cars in most cases.
They DID make manual XJ40s, guys. We got less than 100 in the US, but we got them. Craigslist sellers are dumb in a lot of ways but I doubt they'd specifically mention not being able to drive stick if it was auto.
I would trade my e34 525iA for a manual Jag, but I don't want to badly enough to drive to Milwaukee.
