that's a big one.
This is a truck only engine Ford used back then. They were offered in their medium duty trucks as an option vrs a diesel engine. They don't make a lot of power but tons of torque down low (For a gas motor) with a normal limit of about 3500 rpms.
From what i can tell they made twin turbo boat motors out of them. When i saw the ad i almost decided to go look as a replacement for my 454, but it's probably a really stupid idea.

You could buy one that way.

I thought almost exactly the same thing

FTFY
I've always thought the best way to sell an engine like that was when it was still in the truck. Buyer can test it and you can charge more for it by proving it's "good"

You can add turbos but the stock internals on those engines are "heavy", diesel heavy, so the rev limit is diesel like as well.

From what I have heard, those engines really didn't accelerate too well, so turbo lag wouldn't really be an issue.

From my brief research a while ago, these engines are not useful for much other than trucks. Easier and better just to work with a ford MEL block or big block for the power. Even stock parts can be hard to find...
That said, I have a 63 F450 with a stuck y-block that needs this.
