1991 Mercury Capri XR2. Clear Texas title, good tires, standard, new radiator.
I have the keys to this one too.
Runs but the turbo is shot and sucks oil. Disconnected the oil line stopped the smoking!
$500 obo! Will discuss swaps!
Ready to move some stuff

You would have gotten me in trouble twice this week if you weren't 11 hours away. Yes, I looked it up.

You used to be only 10 miles from me! Met you once in the ABC parking lot.
You live about halfway between here and the Pacific ocean!

Same motor that's in the Miata...but with turbo goodness and driving the front wheels.
I had one in college. Rock solid car. I remember it being a surprising handler.
That is an Aussie body on a Turbo Mazda 323, my friend's Dad was a Brit in Oz working as head engineer on the project. Didnt have the budget to build the RWD sports car he wanted to.

I'll commit heresy here and say its a pretty competent Miata fighter on the street.

The project was rushed, the early non turbo cars were full of suck, by the time the turbos arrived the car was pretty decent, but the damage was well and truly done
Built in Ford plant in Geelong, Victoria.
The engineers name was Chell.
They really wanted to built a RWD sports car to go head to head with the Miata but the beancounters won again,
What it could have been, sigh.
I had a '91. While it wasn't RWD the car held up really, really well to some ham fisted hooning. I do recall the flip up lights would act up but if you cleaned the metal contacts for the motor that would fix the issue. The top was prone to leaks over the windows. Other than that..a reliable car imo.

All I know of these is that my college roommate's brother had one, and one day on the way to our house a tractor-trailer decided to cross the center line on a road and hit him head-on at 50mph (with him also doing about 50mph, he said)....and he survived (albeit with major injuries).
Funny part was he was a big linebacker-looking guy and we always joked about how he could even fit in a car that small....so I guess it had good interior room.
