For some stupid reason I still want a Mini Winnie. At least that one appears to be running (when the pic was taken).

It it was the Vega, I wonder if a Wankle would have made that car better or worse? One way or the other GM realized the world wasn't big enough for two rotary manufacturers.

The Pacer was supposed to get the rotary from GM, as was the '74 Vega. By the time GM cancelled their rotary project the Pacer was pretty far along in development so AMC brought the car to market without that engine.
Yeah, I have no idea why the Winnie is uber-cool, maybe it's because I had the Tonka version as a kid. To me, it screams early-mid 70's southern fried dirt track racing.
Combine the two, add the big shot nitrous kit from my storage, build for challenge in early 70's southern dirt track style?
