Ok, that title was a really bad pun.

I have a Craftsman lawn mower for sale. Pull start, push mower, 21" cutting width, 6.5 HP Briggs & Stratton. I did a tune up at the start of last season, used it all summer, always started after 2 or 3 pulls. Has bag but can mulch also.

$25 to any fellow GRM'er. Located in the NW Chicago 'burbs.

Thanks for looking,

Rob

I thought grassroots lawn care was renting a few goats so you spend more time in the garage?

Now you tell me. I just bought a new Honda mower last year. Of course, it has an OHC engine.

I have a real mower.

On the parts of the yard that are nice thick grass, it does awesome.

But on the more spindly parts with weeds (most of the yard, sadly), it rather sucks.

I caught the other mower on fire last week. Luckily big trash pickup day is near so I should be able to find another.

I have a real mower too. It's a reel mower.

They're great - until you miss a few days and you have some real grass to mow. They don't deal well with the deep stuff, so they don't deal well with my grass-cuttin' tendencies.

I just wish I could get rid of all my grass and pave my yard. It never needs cutting and is better for parking cars on.

+1 for pavement. Gravel is a good second choice. Get multiple colors and you could pass it off as one of those zen garden things. Grazing animals can keep the grass down, but have other issues....

Fun, another chicagoland person... I feel like I rarely see any of us on here.

No need for mower though, I also have one to get rid of :p.

I messed with old lawnmowers my whole life.

Eight years ago I broke down and bought a new $299 Toro with 6.5hp Briggs&Stratton. Mulcher, side shoot, rear bagger, big wheels......sometimes it is really nice not to fool with stuff.

Since my dad's lawnmower died last year and I had to load and unload mine at his house every other week; I also bought him the exact same model two weeks ago. Still $299 at Home Depot. This baby. Hotlinked picture too.

Grassroots Lawn Care:

One afternoon a lawyer was travelling in his limousine when he saw two men along the roadside eating grass.

Disturbed, he ordered his driver to stop and he got out to investigate...

He asked one man, "Why are you eating grass?"

"We don't have any money for food," the poor man replied. "We have to eat grass."

"Well, then, you can come with me to my house and I'll feed you," the lawyer said.

"But sir, I have a wife and two children with me. They are over there, under that tree."

"Bring them along," the lawyer replied.

Turning to the other poor man he stated, "You come with us, also."

The second man, in a pitiful voice, then said, "But sir, I also have a wife and SIX children with me!"

"Bring them all, as well," the lawyer answered..

They all entered the car, which was no easy task, even for a car as large as the limousine was.

Once underway, one of the poor fellows turned to the lawyer and said, "Sir, you are too kind."

"Thank you for taking all of us with you."

The lawyer replied, "Glad to do it.

"You'll really love my place.

"The grass is almost a foot high ."

Why have a lawnmower when you can get fire for free?

Grassroots lawn care would be to buy the push mower here and use it's 6.5hp motor to replace the 5hp on my riding mower to not have to walk behind it.

Amen to that! I've got much better things to waste time with other than lawn mowers.

I broke down and bought this one (I hope it's hotlinked).

A two year unconditional guarantee to start on the first pull. And it does. Oh, there was that time it got balky and required a second pull. Oh dear.
