There was a 454 or 427 in a Z600 back in Hot Rod around 1981. "Street Freaks" issue. I'll see if I can find a picture.
Edit: It's the November 1980 issue. Still looking for the car.
I saw a blown big block on alcohol at the 1/8 mile outlaw track near me. Ran like a 4.8 second 1/8th. The guy looked to be over 300lbs, there was not much room for anything other than tires, motor and driver!

I didn't know that the British Broadcasting Corporation was into that sort of thing.
Somebody drop off a micro car....I Have that 8.1L 496ci ready to find a home.
Point of reference...my Monza has a 49" wide engine bay....the BBC in it is 24.5" wide.

Andrew, would a stock 454 be the same width? And where is that 24.5 measured? Would the exhaust manifolds that dimension by much?

Outside edge of the valve covers. The headers/manifolds extend out from there. The heads are Dart 360 and the valve covers are tall rounded type on a short deck (9.8")...it was originally measured as a joke when a group of us were looking at how narrow the Monza was.
If you need a good measurement, I can mock a short or tall deck up with factory heads. Let me know.
