NMNA

I was tempted to scope this out and try to flip it IF the owner still has the stock headlights, tail lights, hood and bumper cover and IF it's something simple like a fuel pump. Still grinding out progress on the Stincoln so it's a no-go.

Use to have a Spec V and I think they are some of the most underrated cars out there. That being said, check the compression, because 65K is plenty of mileage to blow up a QR25DE, and zero compression could explain the no start. For the rest, they are simple and very sturdy.

A friend had an '02 Spec V years ago that I hooned a bit and I was VERY impressed!

It's one of the few FWD cars I would like to own.

The_Jed, please either move further away from me or stop posting awesome CL finds that are within a day's round trip drive from me. My sanity will thank you.

No personal experience, but from everything I have heard about those I wouldn't buy a non running one unless I wouldn't mind replacing both the engine and transmisson.

My guess is either a stretched timing chain throwing cam sensor codes (P0340) or corroded power wire to the ECM relay. It runs from the main fuse box, under the battery tray (which is where the corrosion usually happens) up to behind the glove box.

Transmission? I never heard anyone changing the transmission on a Spec-V. Not even the ones with a VQ35 in them. What have you heard that goes wrong?

I remember when someone won g stock at the scca nationals with one the transmisson didn't survive, and from what people said it had happened to others too.
