Looking for an 80's Chevy C10 / K10 shortbed truck. A 4X4 K10 would be nice but would prefer one that's not lifted. Just want something rust free to haul car parts and do truck stuff with.
Edit: Ideally I want one that's white, dark blue, or silver with A/C
Thanks,
You and I have been shopping for the same thing. There has been nothing on CL for quite some time.
Rust free C or K series shortbed from that gen in the same sentence? And for not crazy $$$$. Above the Mason/Dixon line not very common.
I just got a 78 k10 for $500 here in FL but it definitely doesn't pass the rust requirement.

Back in 1979 my buddy bought a 1973 Chevrolet 4x4 pickup truck for $1500. It was amazing how rusted it was - new doors, fenders, bed was shot, and then the floors were rusty and the cab started sinking. Since it was the new era of trucks he was convinced that Chevrolet failed to use primer or something.
I've extended my search to Atlanta and found a truck I'm very interested in. Might try the whole fly and drive thing but I've never done that before.

I did a search just in Atlanta and I think one out of 150 was a 4x4.

I have no useful info, but I grew up in central MA and saw how rusty 70s trucks were in the 80s. This was the mental picture I had :
Definitely fly and drive! Hopefully the power of GRM will help find one local to a forum member.
Here is the one I've been looking into in Atlanta.

That looks pretty good for me considering the age.

Wow that looks nice!
Who knows what's going on under the bedliner, but that's still way better than anything you'd find up here unless it was locked up indoors from Nov-April.
I Would grab that. Looks Very nice!!
They are getting really hard to find up here in anything close to decent shape. I have actually wanted to get an older one form the early 70's or late 60's. Short bed would be preferred but at this point I will take just about anything. I have resorted to looking in fields and around farms when I am out driving. I found one up by the NH border on a farm road that looks complete and solid but has been sitting for years based on the growth around it. I asked around a bit and the local farm stand said it has been there for years. I will be heading back up there in teh early spring to peruse it further.
Searched my phone and found the photo of it.

That looks like it's in great shape for being in New England. I love that generation truck.
Watch on C-list: Atlanta, Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Charlotte NC and Columbia SC
2wd long beds will be the lowest
I am crossing my fingers that it is still there in the spring. Once I get done with moving my company offices and if the weather is still decent I may take a ride up there and see what I can find out (and if it is still there). If nothing else get the VIN and look it up and see if I can get a lead on who is the owner.
This is the problem. 14K for a decent early 70's C 10 http://worcester.craigslist.org/cto/5415622681.html
Although my tetanus shot is current I'd wanna start w/ the least rusty 60-80's PU possible, southern or western. The NE is not nice to those trucks.
Dig the 70's step side btw.
Truck in Atlanta was a bust. Rot hole in cab corner and some body work done on the bed.
I'd like to go check this one out near me but the seller is not around today.

Cab corner or rocker panel replacement ain't too bad w/ those Chebbies w/ a MIG. Bed gets tricky and can be a lot more work than you'd expect.

Please tell me it comes with the cool dog.
Going to see the red one above this Saturday.
I've still been searching down south and this one stood out for around challenge money.

I've even been considering 68-72 short beds that will need some work but most trucks under $3500 are crap. I'm also ruling out anything in primer.

That would be awesome, but if I had a German Shephard, I'd be dang sure to have a Crown Vic with faded K9 decals on the side and "Caution - Police Dog" by the back windows.
