Same here. I'm not talking competition, just complete. Anything? I'm in 48430 and would drive a few hours depending...
I have a CRG cadet kart with a low hours Komer 80 on it that my son has outgrown. It needs a good cleaning, spring tune up and fresh slicks but is otherwise ready to race.
I'd take $1200 for it but it isn't really conducive to shipping.

It is perfect for the 8-12yr old WKA racing stuff. My 8yr old turns 13 in a week and is 6' tall now. My youngest has no interest so... it's officially in the way now.
I have one that's "Full" size however it was ran as a FJA before. Would be good for taller kids although it could be adjusted for shorter ones. It's also WKA legal and I'd let it go with Transponder for $1200. Would rather not ship also. Central Illinois.

Jax, try looking in the classifieds at www.4cycle.com & ekartingnews.com
I just sold one of my kid karts for a grand. It was ready to race and up to the current specs as far as engine and safety. In the $500 range your going to get something that is raggedy at best. To make it safe and reliable your going to put almost or that much more back into it. Nothing worse than taking your kid to the track and the kart won't run. They loose interest real fast when all you do is wrench on it. Decent kid karts seem to bottom out around a grand. For a bit more you can find them with spares. I bought one in the off season for $1100 with a spare engine, gears, jets, tires, stand, etc... That was the best deal I spent money on. I have been running that kart now for 2 years, and havn't needed to do anything other than lube the chain, check tire pressure, and add gas.
Good luck

Please don't waste your money on a chinese one. They are just like the cheap pepboys chinese motorcycles. When they wear out you will throw it away. There is no resale value etc... With a name brand quality kid kart such as CRG, Birel, Top Kart, etc. you will use it for the time your daughter fits and then sell it for what you bought it for. At a grand they are at the bottom of there depreciation curve. And anyone getting into the sport will be willing to buy it from you, as long as it has been taken care of. I have seen some sell for less but not much.
Good luck
