I got this car recently with the intention of lifting it and spending a lot of time sideways this winter. Unfortunately some things have come up and I am not sure I will be able to support another project. This, with my lack of suitable storage, means I would be wise to send it down the road.
All I have done to this car thus far is get it running (bad ignitor module when I bought it). I have driven it <5 miles, but it drives surprisingly well. I have not started the process of checking it over, updating maintenance, etc. I don't know much about its condition or needs other than it starts, runs, drives, turns, and stops in an acceptable manner.
Cosmetically, it's a disaster. Possibly the ugliest Miata you can buy right now. Missing door panels (two sheets of lean for making new ones included with sale), missing stereo, duct tape over the steering wheel (air bag has been deployed), etc. Total mess. The exterior (originally red) is a shoddy at best rattle can job, on top of a shoddy plasti-dip/rattle can job. This gives it quite a texture. I can say with certainty that there was not a single piece of masking tape used in the process... there is overspray on everything, etc. The trunklid is damaged from the PO's lifted Jeep coming out of gear in his driveway and rolling over it. Finish panel is broken as well. Judging by the front end panel gaps, previously mentioned air bag, and hood pins I would guess it's been wrecked at least once.
The window regulator is missing for the passenger door. Someones "weight reduction" mods included deleting the washer fluid reservoir, in addition to the AC and power steering, and the front tow hooks. The drivers seat belt buckle does not work. I can not emphasize enough how much help this car needs.
I DO NOT have a title. Vermont does not issue titles for vehicles over 15 years.
What I do know:
- 1990 Miata
- 22x,000 miles on the odometer
- 1.8L swap, unknown mileage on the engine. Swap is... crude. Should be checked over and cleaned up, but functional.
- Hard Dog Double Diagonal roll bar
- Has some sort of lowering springs and aftermarket shocks (maybe Konis?)
- Aluminum radiator
- Supposedly some kind of lightweight flywheel?
- It's ugly. Really ugly.
(The oil pressure gauge doesn't work)
