Due to my continuing not having a garage situation, I need to clear out the other car that's in need of work.
It's a 2000 Saab 9-3 Viggen convertible, silver with black leather. It's a 5spd, of course, and as far as I know, it's all stock. I've had the car for a year.
What it needs:
The top leaks.
The front and rear engine mounts are broken and the engine is clunking around a little. I replaced the trans mount but I haven't gotten to the other two yet.
There's a bit of a wobble in the steering from like 35-42 and 68-74. It really only comes during those ranges. It's totally smooth otherwise.
The driver side sun visor is broken at the little pivot pin.
The windows make that noise that convertible windows do inside the doors sometimes. Rattle rattle.
The climate control display is wonky. It isn't reliable in what it wants to show.
There's a check engine light on. It's a P0442 - "Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (small leak)." I have done 0 things to investigate.
That's about it for the bad stuff. Good stuff:
I have a billion extra wheels for it but some of them are bent. I hit a supermassive pot hole on Peterson Ave in Chicago and bent the hell out of one of them.
AC works great!
Heat works great!
The top works great! (it leaks but it goes up and down fantastically)
The tires are in decent shape.
Trans shift smooth and easy.
Replacement engine 2 years, about 8000 miles ago, with a 2.3L from an '07 9-5 Aero. This was done by Petersen Automotive in Skokie, IL. I think the old motor was sludged up and a PO replaced it with that one. They're a well-known Saab shop in the area and I trust them to have done the work correctly, but it was before I owned the car.
I just replaced spark plugs and DIC and battery and positive battery cable/terminal.
I recently drove this car from Chicago to Pittsburgh and back and it was fine for the long distance drive.
$1,800 to a GRMer.
Some of the pics are from when I bought it (the F-plate ones). Tacky, tacky... The Q-plate ones are current.
