Figured this would be a good place to post this fine automotive masterpiece. I would like to see someone do something fun with it besides stance it out. I never really had an actual plan for it other than fix it up and bring it to open track days at The Firm. I work and go to school full time so it always gets pushed to the back burner and it just sits at work.

This is a factory 6-speed AWD W8 Passat. These cars are similar to the B5 Audi S4's but with a W8 motor. It has a 6-speed 01E trans so it has motor swap potential with almost any VW/Audi motor if the W8 isn't your cup of tea. There are even adapter plates for the LS, SBC, and SBF since a lot of kit car guys use the FWD 01E trans.

  • Clean title in hand
  • Has new Hankook V2 concepts with few hundred miles on them.
  • AWE drivetrain stabilizer
  • 034 control arms/bushings kit
  • 034 trans mounts
  • 034 motor mounts (not installed yet)
  • Replaced a few hard brake lines (with OEM)
  • ECS braided line kit (front and back)
  • Raxles Front Axles
  • New tie rods and tie rod ends
  • Two new calipers and two rebuilt ones.
  • New rotors and pads
  • Flushed the brake system (via B&G machine)
  • R8 coil packs
  • K&N drop in
  • New Duracell AGM Battery
  • New driver side window regulator
  • Fresh oil change and filter.
  • New clutch and flywheel kit included but not installed.

It does have a few issues. It still runs and drives fine, but the flywheel started vibrating. It's a common issue with these dual mass flywheels. I have a New Valero single mass flywheel conversion and clutch kit I can throw in. Paint is a little rough and interior has a few issues. I started collecting black interior pieces for a swap that I'll throw in. It's not everything, still need the big items like seats, dash and I have yet to find a decent drivers door card. I'll take more pictures if any serious interest or you can stop by and take a look at it.

Car is located outside Tampa, FL.

I'm asking $1500obo.

I'd be willing to also do a full or partial trade for parts for my NB miata. Hardtop, decent coil over setup or other suspension parts, 6-speed trans, 1.8 motor, LSD, are a few items off the top of my head I'd be interested in.

I am very happy that this is far away and not an automatic.

In reply to Robbie :

Already have one AWD wagon Volkswagen, and VW has seen fit to design the clutch ergonomics such that they are extremely painful to drive for any length of time.  Unless you are a ballerina and can naturally do toe-points indefinitely.

This is too close for comfort, and I doubt it would solve my mpg issues of commuting with my truck.

Given that a bunch of W8-specific parts have been rendered no longer available by VW, you'd probably be commuting with your truck anyway as soon as you ran into that particular roadblock.

A real shame.  The W8 Passat was a much better car than the Audi S4.  Same chassis, same suspension, same brakes, more power, and it didn't look like some boy racer twitmobile.

I would have to agree, much better car than the S4. Yea you don't get a turbo and the boost effect on the butt dyno, but I've always found naturally aspirated Volkswagens to be more enjoyable for some reason.  Probably has something to do with the torque the VR and W motors are able to put out. I took a trip from FL to NC after I first purchased it, such an enjoyable experience. Very smooth ride, handles pretty good, and the car pulls like a freight train in any gear up to redline. It has no problem getting to the factory limited 135mph top speed very quickly. With a tune I have no doubt it could get close to maxing out speedometer (180mph). It has a 21 gallon fuel tank and my best average was 27mpg's at around 80mph on the highway.

Yes a lot of the major W8 specific parts are becoming harder to find in the US. You can still find stuff through European channels or there are a few dedicated W8 owners who have a cache of used parts they'll sell you. You can also still get a crate motor from VW for like $12k lol.
