I apologize for breaking the cardinal sin of for sale posts and not having current pictures, but I'm having trouble linking to my photos. I'll try to fix it this weekend.
I bought this 2006 Miata (NC1) to nab a few parts for a project. It has a salvage title due to a hit to the driver's front corner. The accident broke the upper control arm, bent the core support, cracked the wheel and wrecked the driver's front fender, headlight, the bumper cover and the hood as shown in the picture. The previous owner gave me an upper control arm which I installed so the car can move. I removed and trashed the fender and bumper cover. The subframe was not damaged and the frame rails and shock towers are straight. I used the NC subframe, so the car currently has an RX-8 subframe and steering rack. I can give the buyer the NC subframe and engine mounts if they want them.
The rest of the bad stuff (besides the aforementioned accident damage)
Driver's airbag is gone (as in previous owner sold it - the accident wasn't bad enough to set it off)
Engine, transmission and driveshaft are removed (I can provide a good 6-speed and driveshaft if anyone wants it, and the 2.0L short block)
I scavenged part of the front electrical harness, just a couple wires that interface to the engine harness. For someone swapping in a different engine and doing their own wiring, this isn't a problem. The wiring that was removed (about 6 wires) was cleanly cut and I can outline exactly what was removed on a wiring diagram.
Cracked windshield
Passenger's door has a roughly dime-sized rust hole in it. There is zero rust on the rest of the car, so I have to assume the door was opened into something early in its life and it was never fixed. I checked on eBay and Car-part.com and doors are available pretty cheap, or it could be cut and patched easily. Or a sticker put over it.
Top has a small tear (it's been taped over to keep the weather out)
The good:
33,000 miles and ran well when I drove it into my shop
Interior is nice. Non-smoker car, plastics are in good shape, seats are like brand new, carpets are not dirty or worn out
No rust except the door issue above. There is zero surface rust or rot anywhere else on the car.
Straight chassis
Before I discharged it, it had cold A/C. I have all the A/C components organized to go with the car.
Paint is pretty nice and would clean up well. Not much in terms of dings/scrapes on it. Engine bay is clean.
Needs front brake pads, but the whole braking system is still intact including the ABS. Rotors are good.
I have a bunch of extra parts in the shop that could be negotiated as part of the sale. Really the only thing I was planning to keep off of the car is the engine, transmission, engine wiring harness and subframe, and I really don't even need to keep any of that except the engine wiring harness at this point.
This would make an awesome GRM $2K challenge car or as the basis for an XP or SSM autocross car. The chassis on these cars is so good from the factory, and I think there's easily $2k of parts you can sell off of this car. So... $900 NC roller? That's waaaaaaaaaaaaay less than I (over)paid for it, but I'd like someone to do something cool with it. Or part it out. Whatever. Get ahold of me if you're interested and want to see it, kick tires, drink a beer, etc.
