ad is wrong. all 5 speed astros were iron dukes, not 6 cylinders.
Holy crap. Where was this when I was putting the v8 in my safari. And it's the same color!!!! Damn! Would that bolt up to a sbc? Could it handle it?
I'd bet its a T5 trans like an S-10 4 banger or 2.8 v6. Will not work with a sbc. However, this van will supply most of the needed parts (pedal set, column, crossmember, etc.) to put in a V8 and matching manual trans. The T5 from a V8 F-body would work but be limited to 300lbs of torque in stock trim. Not sure about older 4-speeds or a T56, but getting creative should solve any issues.
The Astro t5 is the closest ratio t5 out there.
