My 2000 base needs tires. I cant bring myself to buy tires for the 14s, since end goal is a set of 15x7 that look good. (Haven't found what i want yet). So im asking the hive, who seem to collect wheels like i do with socks, what they have laying around. Cheaper is better. Not opposed to stock or aftermarket. Im willing to entertain anything based on price. Im located near Charlotte NC if localish (200 miles each way) is an option.
Man, I just looked on your local CL and there isn't much around you. At the moment I don't have anything, sorry.
As much as many people seem to want for their used wheels you may be just as well off to buy new. good-win-racing currently has some deals on water damaged box wheels.
Can you link that? I dont mind sending money, but want something i like if im spending good money.
Ive also tried craigslist, offerup, and now that Facebook thing. Nothing around.

I know people like to hate, but check out pep Boys proline wheels. Buy 3 get one free, online special. I paid less than $250 for each set of 15s for my miata thanks to that deal. Not the lightest wheels in the world but the price was right vs Craigslist.

That being said, I don't love the way that these cars feel on 15's. I think they magnify the cowl shake. I've had four sets of Miata 15's and the only car that they felt right on had a cage.
In reply to Woody:
What would you suggest? Seems like 14s are so limited, and the 16s on my last one were just too little on the sidewall to look right, and rode like crap.
A 2000 model year will ride fine on a set of stock 15s. I've got a 1999 and I have 14" stockers, 15" aftermarket, 15" stockers, and 16" stockers. On our "wonderful" Michigan roads the 14s ride best due to the higher sidewalls, but next best is the 15" stockers. They're pretty light, compared to my aftermarket wheels. The 16s have the worst ride. My impression is that the car is susceptible to wheel offset differences. It just feels best on stock 15s.

I'm running 14's because that's just what I like. 15's look better, 16's don't. I don't know if it's the width of the tire or the wheel that I don't care for, but I might be inclined to run a 195-15 vs. a 205-15. Of course that's just me, and I've been known to be kind of an a-hole who doesn't know what he's talking about on occasion.
Tires are more important than wheel diameter for ride quality. I used to have a set of 14" and a set of 17" that I'd swap back and forth on, and the latter rode far better because of the tires.
A lower offset (numerically) will effectively soften the suspension.
I have access to many, many, many 15" options for you. They're not used, but since I can ship them with free mounting and balancing the price evens out pretty quickly. Light (under 11 lb) and strong 15x7 Advanti Storms with a 195/50-15 Yoko S.Drive: $789 plus shipping.
In reply to Woody:
I run the 195/50/15 and like them. A 195/55/15 fits fine ,too and fills the wheel well a little more on a stock height vehicle. I find the steering feels nicest on 6" wide wheels, 38mm offset, 195 width, regardless of diameter.

That sounds like the perfect solution.

What about other cars? My Mazda2 seems to have the same fit as a Miata wheel wise and it came stock with 15" rims. I haven't tested this as sadly I don't have a Miata but might broaden your search.
I'm pretty sure there is a dude in Concord that parts out Miatas.
In reply to jstancel:
I actually just found the other one. Had been dealing with e-speed, but things with race season starting are nuts for them. So the used parts side is down for the time being.
Other guy seems nice. Have an appointment sunday to walk through the warehouse.
Keith: thanks. Dont know what way I'll wind up going yet.
