I have a d150 short box standard cab chassis of indeterminate age, plus a nearly rust-free '85 (or maybe '87) cab with pretty much every option. Add to it several used front clips and your choice of either a nice steel flatbed or home-made stepside bed and you have a whole truck worth minus the engine. The cab is gray but if you want a red interior I have the whole works from a Royal SE with all the trimmings. I also have an extra over the windshield visor and several sliding rear windows.
I also have a 53 dodge pilot house 1-ton truck. A previous owner narrowed the front of the frame and installed the cross member and front suspension from an 80s Dodge 1-ton. The rear axle hasn't been swapped yet, but I do have a Dana 70 or 80 to go with it and you'll really just need spring saddles, a welder, time, and attention to detail to get it in.
There is a rebuilt 318 and nv435 in the 53. Unfortunately the engine sat long enough that the engine seized. It might be easy to fix, might not. The issue with that motor in that truck was that it sat so low in the frame the fan wouldn't draw air through the radiator. I have the RV timing cover that moves the water pump up 3-4" from normal, and should fix the problem.
There is a mopar small block that was in my dad's truck available. Dad said he pulled it to put a slant six in for fuel economy, but I don't really know the details. It was a mopar crate engine with under 20k miles, so it should be a good runner. It currently has a 2-bbl manifold on it but I have a 4-bbl or a tbi one for it as well, and could throw in a Holley Projection controller that should run the Dodge TBI.
I also could throw in the slant six that replaced it, but it still needs to be pulled and there was the whole engine fire thing. I think I have both one and two bbl intakes for it.
There are automatic transmissions for both the small block and the slant six, including a rare slant six 727 that needs an overhaul if you want more than the 904 on the slant six now. I also have several overdrive 833 4-speeds and the bell housings for either engine, or nv435 granny gear transmissions if you are feeling trucky. If you are sitting on a bunch of GM transmissions I could toss in a Lakewood small block mopar to gm trans bell housing.
If you want to build a hauling truck instead of a sporty one, I also have crew cab long box frames from both a '67 3/4 ton with a straight axle and a srw '85 one ton with ifs. I have the correct disk brake parts from an RV for the straight axle as well.
The 80's cab, frame, front clip, and bed: $500
Pilot house 53 with RV timing cover and 8-lug rear: $350
Take both to build a short box 1/2 ton version of the '53 for $700.
Add if you take one or both of the trucks:
-all the small block stuff, including the od transmission and gm transmission bell housings: $400
-all the slant six stuff including the 727 and od transmission bell housing: $250
-several (3?) 833 overdrive transmissions, later aluminum case ones not the cast iron ones, $300 if both slant six and small block stuff go, otherwise not available.
-extra long frame, your choice, with one or both of the other trucks: $150
So, if you clean me out, both trucks, both engine setups, and one of the long frames, $1500 worth (plus 300 if you want od) you should have no problem putting together both a short box hot rod and a 12-15' bed hauling truck. You should be able to get either for well under challenge budget, but maybe even both together.
I can put the works together as two loads on my 24' trailer, or one load if you only want the one truck, and you can keep the trailer for another $800.
