I have a brand new 5/16" drill bit, but it has a spline end on it. Neither I nor anyone I know has a drill that can use it.

Shoot me an address and I'll put it in a bubble envelope to you. Free bit, free shipping.

Could be a spline drive.

I did get your message Dean, and I will send it out tomorrow, but I realized I spaced on editing in a picture this morning.

It's sharp, looks more like a wood bit to me, but could maybe be some variety of SDS I don't have. I fully suspect my dad found it on a jobsite one day and it wound up in the toolbox.

It says Hanson, 71420, and HS USA. Google for me is useless on the quick search I just did.

That is actually a spine drive. Not an sds but I will still take it.

From the look of the picture you could cut the splines off and still have plenty of drill shank to clamp in a standard drill chuck.

You'll need to log in to post.
